ESCALARPA
Escalarpa is a sound installation and a musical instrument at the same time.
It was originally created in 2004 for the exposition 9 Jocs d'Art (9 art games) at the Art Museum of Sabadell (BCN, Spain).
A set of metal strings is mounted and tensed through the space of a stairway. Each string is amplified by mean of a piezo microphone, The sound is processed by a computer and/or by a set of programmable effects (basically modulation and delay).
Visitors can walk inside the instrument and play (with) it. Musician can play and compose for ESCALARPA also in combination with other instruments. A particulary dynamic sound can be obtained by using bows.
ESCALARPA is a social, adaptable and light thing.
It is a social instrument, it is widely adaptable to different tipes of stairways and to other structures (artificial and natural). It is easy and compact to carry, install, and eventually replicate.
ORAFDUM
Oggetto Ritrovato Alla Fine Di Un Millennio / Object Found At The End Of A Millennium
ORAFDUM is a "manifesto" piece. The very origin of the work is an allegoric tale about the contemporary world told by Omar Cais Rashid, a misterious oriental (?) voyager searching for sound-art and music in the western world. ORAFDUM is one of the possible representations in a sound form (gesture and sculpture are also present) of the content of the allegoric tale.
The work of Spiritini has been realized in the form of a pyramidal score and/or in the form of a sound installation with sculpture.
ORAFDUM es una pieza "manifesto". Parte de un cuento alegorico sobre el mundo contemporáneo visto de parte del misterioso viajante Omar Cais Rashid en búsqueda de las artes musicales y sonoras en el mundo occidental. ORAFDUM es una posible representación en forma sonora (gestual y plástico) del contenido de este cuento alegórico. La pieza de Spiritini está realizada en forma de una partitura-tridimensional y/o como instalación plástico-sonora . Estas versiones representan un objeto mágico que es la Llave del cuento: una pirámide que es la llave de la búsqueda de Omar Cais Rashid.
